Demand Prompts China Expansion For Toyota And Mitsubishi

Japan's Toyota has announced that growing demand for its vehicles in China has led to the expansion of one of the plants owned by the company's joint venture with First Automotive Works (FAW). The partners will invest a total of US$215mn to expand the plant's annual production capacity by 50% to 150,000 units from the current 100,000 units by the end of 2009. The project will also create 1,500 new jobs.
