Africa Contract Boosts Ford SA Exports

May 2008 | Contract News

Following investment in expanding its Silverton, Pretoria plant, Ford Motor Company of South Africa (FMCSA) has secured a contract to export its Ranger pick-up truck from the plant to other African markets. Shipments began in April with right-hand drive versions, which will be followed by the left-hand variants in July. Ford expects to export 10,000 Rangers during the rest of 2008, rising to 24,000 units in the whole of 2009. By 2010, Ford is targeting exports of 40,000 Rangers, which will take its total vehicle exports from South Africa to 60,000 units.
