Chery JV Bases Hub in Malaysia
April 2008 | Project NewsChinese carmaker Chery has established a joint venture with Malaysia's Alado Corp, which will extend Chery's reach to the markets of the ASEAN Free Trade Area (AFTA). Chery Alado Holdings will begin production at the plant of Oriental Assemblers in July 2008 with an initial annual output of 5,000 units, although a capacity of 10,000 units has been made available for the project. The joint venture plans to sell 2,000 units in Malaysia and the remaining 3,000 units will be exported throughout the AFTA region.
