Philippines U-Turn On Assembly Incentives

The Philippines Board of Investment (BoI) and the Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers of the Philippines (CAMPI) have reached middle ground on the issue of the 2008 Investment Priorities Plan (IPP). Under a draft version released in late 2007, the BoI planned to reduce the number of industry sectors entitled to tax breaks from 11 to six. One of the sectors to be removed from the list was vehicle assembly, which aroused the concern of CAMPI due to the already fragile nature of the country's vehicle production
