Lexus UAE Sales Defy Rising Yen

Despite the rapid rise of the yen's value against the United Arab Emirates (UAE) dirham, Toyota premium brand Lexus has recorded growth of 68% year-on-year (y-o-y) in 2007. According to Simon Frith, managing director of the exclusive distributor for Lexus in the UAE, Al-Futtaim Motors, the 2007 launch of the new LS460 sedan contributed to the growth. Frith expects the latest version of the flagship LX570 SUV, due out later this year, to have a similar impact. Senior general manager for sales and marketing, Tony Barlow, followed this up with projections of four-fold growth in sales of LX570s in 2008
