Daimler Group Considers Romania For Prospective Plant
February 2008 | Company News AlertAccording to industry sources, the Daimler Group is examining the possibility of building a new plant in Romania. The company has reportedly had talks with the mayor of Cluj-Napoca, located in the north-west of the country, and initial indications are that the plant could start producing the new A- and B-class Mercedes-Benz models from 2011. While the company has not disclosed a specific figure for output at the plant, company sources put the figure at between 70,000 and 130,000 units, while some estimates put the number as high as 350,000 units.
