Vietnam Car Price Cut Short-Lived

After four import tax cuts during 2007 reduced the traditionally high prices of new cars in Vietnam, it appears that an increase could be back on the cards. A 421% y-o-y increase in the number of imported completely built units (CBUs) in January 2008 alone has prompted the country's Prime Minister to request a new tax policy to cope with the higher level of vehicles on the road and the resulting congestion.
