Mercedes Returns To South Africa

Following Chrysler's takeover by Cerberus Capital Management, DaimlerChrysler South Africa has changed its name to reflect the new status of its parent company. The subsidiary of what is now Daimler AG will revert to its original name of Mercedes-Benz South Africa, which it used on entering the country in 1984. A company statement also claimed that the name change would reflect the division between the Daimler corporate brand and the unit's product activities, adding that existing contracts would not be affected by the change. As well as the Mercedes brand, the division also distributes Mitsubishi, Freightliner, Fuso and Western Star
