Toyota Lays Out Philippines Ambitions

Japan's Toyota has celebrated the milestone of becoming the first carmaker to sell 500,000 vehicles in the Philippines, by planning its next target. Toyota Motors Philippines (TMP) president Hiroshi Ito stated that the next step is to achieve cumulative sales of one million units by 2017. Ito added that if the market sustains the growth achieved so far this year, the goal would be achievable. In the short-term TMP aims to sell 45,000 units in 2007 and 50,000 units in 2008, although Ito added that much would depend on the country's economic
