Renault Samsung Looks For Sales Boost

After spending KRW200bn (US$217mn) and 18 months on redesigning its SM5 sedan, South Korean carmaker Renault Samsung is looking to the model to earn its keep by boosting domestic sales and increasing segment share to 30%. The Renault-owned carmaker was the only national brand to see its domestic sales slide over the first five months of the year, as sales fell by 0.7% y-o-y. A 65% rise in exports, however, ensured that the company's total sales rose by 14% y-o-y to 69,315 units during the year to May 2007.
