Nissan Boosts Thai Exports
June 2007 | FDI AlertJapan's Nissan is aiming to keep up with the major exporters in the Thai automotive industry, announcing plans to export its Navara pick-up truck from the country. The Japanese firm will begin shipments of the model from August, while its plant will undergo a US$911mn expansion to increase its annual production capacity to 200,000 units by 2008. When complete, the Thai plant will become Nissan's third-largest Asian production base after Japan and China, and its second export base alongside Japan.
