GM Faces More Industrial Action In Europe
May 2007 | Company News AlertAn overhaul of General Motors' (GM) production facilities in Europe will have differing effects on its centres across Europe. While four GM plants located in Germany, Poland, Sweden and the UK have been awarded production of the new compact Astra vehicle, GM has announced that production of the older Astra will be phased out at the carmaker's plant in Antwerp, Belgium before being terminated by 2010. Workers have gone on strike to protest the 1,400 job losses at Antwerp announced by GM as the carmaker adjusts its structure accordingly.
