Highs And Lows For Japanese Giants

Japan's Toyota has made good on its threat to become the world's leading carmaker, overtaking General Motors in terms of both global sales and production in Q107. Despite achieving record sales of 2.26mn vehicles over the first three months of the year, GM could not match Toyota's total of 2.348mn units. In terms of production too, Toyota built 2.367mn units, while GM estimates output of 2.335mn.
