Toyota Doubles Transmission Output

Toyota Autoparts Philippines (TAP) has invested US$116mn in a new plant, which will produce R-type transmission units for export to seven countries. The company has broken ground on the new plant, which will take TAP's annual production capacity for manual transmissions from 150,000 units to 330,000 units. It will also have the distinction of being just the fourth R-type transmission plant for the Japanese carmaker, behind facilities in Japan, Thailand and Indonesia.
