US carmaker General Motors has stepped up its alternative fuel activities in North America, as it aims to divert from its traditional image as a provider of gas-guzzling trucks and SUVs. In the US, the company has announced a partnership with Colorado's E85 Coalition to open 40 new E85 fuel stations throughout the state by year-end, to strengthen the existing network of 13 facilities.
