BMI's latest UAE Automotives Report reveals that the UAE is the leading Gulf market for luxury vehicles, with segment leaders BMW and Mercedes reporting strong growth. While the overall automotive market is set to grow by 11.4% year-on-year (y-o-y) in 2006 to 128,700 units, growth in luxury car sales is likely to outpace the market average with BMW sales set to rise by 15%. Nissan is heavily promoting its Infiniti luxury brand, keen to challenge German carmakers BMW and Mercedes in the luxury segment.
