Outlook Bright For Argentina

With the announced investment of US$1bn from carmakers up to 2008, the future health of Argentina's automotive industry would seem secure. The industry has been greatly cheered this year by robust sales and near record levels of production. Argentina continues to figure strongly in the strategies of industry majors such as General Motors, which recently said it had earmarked investment of up to US$350mn in its facilities in Alvear for 2007. The continuing strength of production - total output has hit 343,983 units so far this year - has led BMI to raise its forecast for this item from 355,887
