Glimmers Of Hope For Nigeria's Ailing Automotive Industry
September 2006 | BMI ViewNigeria's car market will be boosted by a government loan scheme for civil servants, although sales will not reach government targets, according to BMI's latest Nigeria Automotive Report. The scheme will help offset the effects of reduced economic activity on car sales. The loans will also raise car output by around 50%, albeit from a low base, as they are tied to the purchase of locally produced Peugeot models. We believe that it is likely that the scheme will create a waiting list that will be carried over into 2007. Unless the loan scheme is extended, we believe automotive output
