Mini Cars Prove Mighty For Japan

The outlook for Japan's auto industry appears bleak, following the 16th consecutive month of declining domestic sales in October, with a slide of 2%. However, BMI's recently published Japan Automotives Report suggests that all is not lost as the mini car segment, those vehicles with engines under 600cc, is making a stand. Sales in the segment rose by 1.2% y-o-y to 147,848 units in October. This was the 10th consecutive month of growth in the segment, taking the total for the first 10 months of the year to 1,703,184 units. Sales for the year so far have led the Japan
