VW's Russian Adventure Gets Underway
October 2006 | Company News AlertVolkswagen has kicked off construction of its EUR400mn (US$510mn) plant in Kaluga, Russia. VW CEO Bernd Pischetsrieder was in the city this weekend to lay the symbolic foundation stone for the plant, which is expected to have a capacity of 115,000 units per year. According to company sources, the plant will create some 3,500 direct jobs in Russia. It should hit full capacity by September 2008.
