New Role As Production Hub?

Bahrain's ambition to become an automotive retail hub for the Gulf region will be eclipsed by strong growth in car sales in the UAE, according to the latest BMI Bahrain Automotive Report. However, the construction of a car plant in the country - a first for Arab Gulf states - will ensure that it retains a role in the regional car sector. We forecast that Bahrain's car plant, which is likely to commence production in 2007, will reach annual capacity of 60,000 units by 2008.
