Sub-standard Vehicles To Hit Mexican Market?

Alarm bells are ringing in Mexico at the prospect of low-cost vehicles that fall short of national standards entering the market from China. According to the Mexican government, China has sought to export heavy vehicles into Mexico for years but has failed to do so precisely because the vehicles were deemed unfit to be on Mexican roads and because of shortcomings relating to intellectual property rights. The government expects vehicles coming from China to meet the country's requirements on the environment, duties and intellectual property, for which China's own record has been something of a headache for global manufacturers.
