Make Or Break For Volkswagen
August 2006 | Company News AlertVolkswagen has reached a crucial stage in its troubled existence. The company is set to resume talks with unions in Germany and will once again find itself broaching the prickly issue of job cuts and an extension of the working week, which it claims is the only way to return the company to profitability. Volkswagen remains adamant it will press ahead with its restructuring plan in both Europe and Latin America, where it has also faced recent strife with trade unions. The plan envisages some 20,000 job losses across the board. The carmaker must act in view of labour costs
