Spain Auto Industry Hit By Gloomy European Climate

The Spanish automotive industry has been hit by the tough operating environment affecting carmakers across Europe. Data from the Spanish association of carmakers ANFAC shows that far from picking up from the sharp decline registered in 2005, production and sales in the country have fallen in the first six months of 2006. In the period January to June output was down by 25,000 units, or 1.7%, with total production reaching 1.49mn units.
