DaimlerChrysler Makes Smart Move
July 2006 | Company News AlertThe carmaker DaimlerChrysler has decided to dissolve Smart GmbH after successive attempts to save the loss-making affiliate. As part of a streamlining process, Smart will be integrated into the Mercedes Car Group, which will assume control of the Smart plants. The move is expected to trigger some 300 job losses in Boblingen, near Stutggart, the location of Smart's headquarters.
