Volkswagen Labour Conflict In Spain Continues

The employment conflict at Volkswagen's plant in Navarre, Spain remains shrouded in uncertainty, 19 months after management and trade unions initiated talks aimed at concluding a new labour agreement. With the survival of the plant in the balance, both sides have dug their feet in over management proposals for lower pay and a 'more flexible' working week. As employees at the plant returned to work this week, observers were decidedly downbeat about the chances of a resolution being reached before the next holiday period in August.
