Malaysia Ends Sales Slump
June 2006 | Market Trend AnalysisAfter three months of declining vehicles sales, the Malaysian market returned to health in May with growth of 7.5% y-o-y. The passenger car segment posted growth of 3.6%, largely buoyed by a recovery for national producers. Domestic manufacturers increased their sales by 9.43% y-o-y, while in contrast, international producers saw their sales fall by 13.18% to 7,205 units compared with 8,299 units in May 2005. This represents a turnaround from April when sales of foreign brands rose by 103% y-o-y. However, April sales were lower than those this month at 5,631 units.
