Proton's China Venture

Furthering its search for an international strategic partner, Malaysian carmaker Proton has entered into a preliminary agreement with China's Chery Automobile. The two firms are now carrying out a feasibility on the project, which will include assembly and distribution of both Proton and Chery vehicles, due to be complete by August 28. The project will include distribution activities in China, Malaysia and other ASEAN markets, as the national manufacturer seeks to expand its overseas activities.
