Import Influence Increases

The German and Japanese dominance of South Korea's imported vehicle market continues. BMW had maintained the lead in the year to October 2005 with an 18.7% market share, but was pushed into second place on full year sales of 5,786 for a market share of 18.72%. German manufacturers account for three of the top five companies. BMW, Mercedes-Benz and Audi claim a 40.43% share between them. The DaimlerChrysler marque Mercedes sold 4,012 units to take third place with 12.98% of the market, while VW subsidiary Audi dropped from fourth to fifth by year-end with 8.73% from 2,698 vehicles sold.
