Indonesia Slowdown Prompts Toyota Rethink
May 2006 | Company Finance AlertA 44.8% decline in first quarter new car sales in Indonesia has forced the country's leading carmaker Toyota Astra Motor to reduce its sales target for the year. Compared with sales of 182,724 units in 2005, Toyota Astra expects to sell between 120,000 and 130,000 units in 2006, some 28% to 34% lower. This is based on the company's first quarter sales, which were 22.3% lower than the same period of 2005, at 34,478 units.
