Russian Revival?
June 2006 | Market Trend AnalysisThe first five months of 2006 indicated a rebound in sales of Russian brands, while foreign branded cars produced in Russia witnessed a further rise in sales. In January-May, overall car sales rose by up to 7.0% y-o-y, close to our forecast of 6.8% for the year. Russian brands have seen signs of revival, although it is unclear whether this is indicative of a long-term trend. Rising demand prompted Russia's largest carmaker, AvtoVAZ, to increase production by 5.9% y-o-y to 296,667 units.
