Demand For Pick-ups Soars In Poland

Pick-up sales rose 300% to more than 420 units in the first four months of 2006, according to Poland's Puls Biznesu daily newspaper. Japanese brands Nissan, Toyota and Mitsubishi represented around 23% of sales. Strong growth in demand for pick-ups is related to the changes in Poland's VAT refund rules for businesses buying corporate cars introduced in August 2005. Industry sources also claim that pick-ups are becoming more fashionable among non-commercial users due to improved designs and US-influenced consumer
