Slovak Carmakers Set Output Targets

Volkswagen Slovakia plans to raise output by 9.9% y-o-y to 240,000 vehicles in 2006, according to company chairman Thomas Schmall this week. The company invested SKK2bn (EUR60mn) in its Slovakian operations in 2005. In 2006, it is preparing to produce the new VW Touareg off-roader, which is due to be launched in 2007, and the new VW Polo, set for launch in 2009.
