Iran Closes In On Million Mark
June 2006 | Industry ForecastResults for 2005 were better than BMI had forecast. We had forecast total automotive sales growth of 7.2% to 760,080 units in 2005, based on evidence that consumption patterns would remain the same as 2004. We anticipated that high fuel prices would prevent higher rates of growth. However, the government estimates that total sales in the 2005 calendar year grew by a third to 994,000 units, which represents an unprecedented leap. It also puts an identical figure on automotive production. While external automotive trade is comparatively meagre compared to the size of the Iranian market, Iran actually exported 5,000 units
