Commercial vehicle sales performed markedly better than the passenger-car segment in 2005, although still recording a fall of 1.0% to 387,929 units over the rolling 12 months from Q205 to Q106 (for the total commercial market including buses and taxis). In Q106 truck registrations rose 2.8% y-o-y to 13,872 units, LCV registrations less strongly by 1.8% to 87,384 (with only heavy vans escaping declining demand after a record 2005), and buses and coaches to 633 units, a y-o-y rise of 6.8%. In April 2006 truck registrations more than doubled y-o-y as operators tried to beat a May 1 legislative deadline
