VW Exodus Begins

German carmaker Volkswagen has received around 1,000 applications for voluntary retirement or redundancy so far, which according to a company spokesperson has 'exceeded expectations'. VW is looking to reduce the workforce at its six loss-making German plants by around 20,000 people and has offered the buyout packages to its 85,000-strong staff.
