Bosch's SPX Acquisition: The Answer To Its Problems?

Robert Bosch, the largest automotive parts supplier in Europe, is looking to acquire the service solution business of US-based SPX Corporation for nearly US$1.15bn in a deal which will significantly bolster Bosch's participation in the global aftermarket segment. More significant for Bosch, however, is the fact that such acquisitions will guard the company against swings in the autos production segment - particularly in light of the slowdown in European demand - and allow the company to expand its focus on the more resilient and stable aftermarket segment.
