BMW Motorrad sales reached a record 1,047,286 units in 2011, up an impressive 6.4% compared with 2010. The motorcycle division of Germany's BMW mostly operates in the high-end segment of the motorcycle market and its gains highlight the strength of the premium segment. However, BMW Motorrad's reliance on three Western European markets - Germany, France and Italy - for nearly 42% of its total sales in 2011 could severely dampen its prospects for similar growth in 2012.
