IzhAvto Investment: Music To The Government's Ears, Pressure For AvtoVAZ

A year after being selected as the preferred owner of Russian carmaker IzhAvto, AvtoVAZ has launched a massive production plan at IzhAvto's plant, which BMI believes will further strengthen AvtoVAZ's and foreign partner the Renault-Nissan Alliance's dominance in the Russian new vehicles market. Broadly speaking, AvtoVAZ is looking to invest some EUR4bn into modernising the IzhAvto plant and increasing its production capacity from the current 220,000 units a year to 360,000 units a year by 2020.
