Duty Cuts And New Regulations Boost Used Car Imports

Zimbabwe is witnessing a spike in used vehicle imports, particularly through the Beitbridge Border Post, as the 2011 budget included a cut in excise duty. However, while the reduction in landing costs for an imported vehicle has contributed to growth, rules due to be implemented in June restricting older and left-hand drive cars has also forced consumers to bring forward purchases.
