Budget Measures Will Help Car Sales But Producers Lag
December 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisPakistan's new passenger car sales have been boosted by measures in the budget to reduce the cost of buying a new car. Sales for the first five months of the financial year (July to November) have risen 19% year-on-year (y-o-y) and are on track to meet BMI's forecast of 132,550 units for the year ending June 2012. Production growth has not kept pace, however, as output rose 9% for the same period. While the floods in Thailand, which have disrupted the supply chain, are undoubtedly a factor, producers still believe a clearer industry policy is required to protect incumbent investors
