Motorcycle Slowdown Reflects Worsening Economy
December 2011 | Industry Trend AnalysisGrowth in Taiwan's motorcycle market has slowed dramatically, with sales up just 0.1% year-on-year (y-o-y) in November, reflecting the worse-than-expected economic data for the last quarter and the worsening outlook for 2012. As one of the leading forms of transport in the country, the segment usually withstands such downturns, but new regulations have also forced up prices. Sales have been slowing month-on-month since September, although the 11-month total is still 25% ahead of 2010.
