Tata Looks For Home Field Advantage In Booming Truck Market

Indian carmaker Tata Motors has announced plans to build a truck production plant in Kenya in 2012, as it looks to increase its market share in the rapidly growing truck market. By producing locally, Tata will be in a better position to lower prices and compete in a hotly contested market, which has also attracted Chinese brands such as Beiqi Foton Motors. This rivalry within the competitive landscape supports BMI's view that brands from emerging markets will expand globally, and also confirms our bullish view of the African commercial vehicle segment.
