Autos Policy Delays Drag On BMI Ratings
October 2011 | BMI Industry ViewThe Philippines ranks seventh in BMI's Risk-Reward Ratings for the autos industry in Asia this quarter, with a score of 54.0 points. The market offers only average sales and production growth potential based on BMI's five-year forecast. In the first eight months of this year, vehicle sales in the country fell 4.1% y-o-y, to 93,108 units, as rising concerns related to the global economy and the slowing of export growth in the country started to impact market confidence. Part of the blame also goes to the inability of major Japanese automakers to meet customer demand following the earthquake of March 2011.
