FTAs To Smooth US Carmakers' LatAm Dream

BMI expects the approval of the US free trade agreements (FTAs) with Colombia and Panama to be a significant boon for US carmakers and their growth strategies in the Latin American region. Competition between Asian and US carmakers is rife in Latin American countries' new and used vehicle markets and we expect the FTAs to bolster US carmakers' positions in these markets. Additionally, consumers in both of these markets will benefit from greater availability of imported vehicles, which in turn will translate into improved vehicle ownership levels.
