Business Environment Makes South Carolina A Tyre Hub

Continental Tire The Americas (CTA) has announced a US$500mn investment project to set up a brand new tyre plant to supply both vehicle manufacturers and after-sales clients in Sumter Country, South Carolina (SC). This comes just weeks after Japanese rival Bridgestone Corp announced investment in a new plant and expansion of its current SC facility. While the US tops BMI's Industry Risk/Reward Ratings for the autos sector in the Americas region, this suggests there is also competition at a state level, backed by CTA's CEO Jochen Etzel, who said the investment 'would not have been possible' without state
