Foton Will Be Better Off Forgetting Marshalls

Kenyan autos dealer Marshalls East Africa has had its hopes of staging a recovery built on growth in the heavy commercial vehicle (HCV) segment dashed, after Chinese partner Foton Motors terminated their agreement. The growth of key industrial sectors in the country, such as infrastructure and agribusiness, has boosted demand for HCVs and attracted several new brands. Foton had been the ideal partner for Marshalls, as its plans for a plant in the country would have allowed the dealer to lower prices and become more competitive.
