Plenty For Suppliers To Cheer About

The Mexican autos industry is preparing for an influx of investment from international suppliers, thanks to large-scale commitments made by leading original equipment manufacturers (OEMs). Raul Urteaga, the Mexican trade minister in Tokyo, says up to 40 Japanese parts suppliers are considering setting up assembly plants in Mexico. Meanwhile, the Malaysian External Trade Development Corporation (Martrade) is leading a mission - called the 'Specialised Marketing Mission' - to explore collaboration opportunities between Malaysian and Mexican autos suppliers. These developments fall in line with BMI's long-held view that despite the weak recovery in the domestic autos market, Mexico is best positioned
