VW Faces Familiar Rival For Market Leadership
August 2011 | Company News AlertGermany's Volkswagen plans to capture leadership of the overall South African vehicle market as part of its quest to become the global number one by 2018. However, as in many other countries, this will involve surpassing long-time leader Toyota Motor. But with new products already improving its presence in segments where it had previously struggled, Volkswagen South Africa (VWSA) says more new launches will give it the edge. More importantly, in line with BMI's long-term core views for the autos sector, VW is looking to take over market leadership profitably and not just focus on volumes.
