Slowdown Is Proving All Encompassing
August 2011 | Industry NewsNew car imports in Lebanon fell 10.7% in July, taking total sales for the first seven months of the year down 5.5% and marking a distinct turnaround from the 7% growth in Q111. Although a dramatic decline in sales of Japanese brands suggests restricted supplies of vehicles may have played a major role, sales of Chinese, European and US cars also fell, pointing to a much more widespread slowdown of the sector, in line with the weaker economic growth and consumption expected by BMI's Middle East and North Africa (MENA) team.
